Growing up Muslim in a non-Muslim majority environment is a different kind of challenge. You're caught between cultures, questioning things, and sometimes feeling like you don't fully belong anywhere.

Here are 5 things that changed everything for me:

1. Your deen isn't your parents' deen — it has to become yours.

Stop practising out of habit. Start learning the why behind what you do. When you understand the wisdom, everything clicks differently.

2. Discipline > motivation.

You won't always feel like praying Fajr. You won't always feel spiritual. That's normal. The people who level up are the ones who show up even when it's hard.

3. Your circle determines your trajectory.

If everyone around you is wasting time, you'll waste time too. Find people who remind you of Allah just by being around them.

4. Islam and ambition are not opposites.

The Prophet ﷺ was a leader, a strategist, and someone who changed the world. You can chase excellence in your career, your education, and your health — all while deepening your faith.

5. You don't need to have it all figured out.

Struggling with your identity doesn't make you a bad Muslim. It makes you human. The fact that you care enough to think about it means you're already on the right path.
