The 3 things most homeowners get wrong about luxury remodels
After working on high-end residential remodels, the same mistakes come up over and over ā even among clients with serious budgets.
1. They hire a contractor before a designer.
Contractors execute. Designers plan. If you don't have a clear design direction first, you'll spend the entire project making expensive decisions under pressure. Lock in your vision before a single demo nail is pulled.
2. They confuse expensive with intentional.
Dropping $40K on Italian marble doesn't automatically make a space feel luxurious. Luxury is about proportion, light, material relationships, and restraint. We've seen beautiful $15K kitchens and hideous $100K ones. Taste isn't priced per square foot.
3. They underestimate project management.
The design is 30% of the job. Coordinating 6+ trades, managing lead times on custom materials, keeping a project on schedule ā that's where most remodels fall apart. A great PM saves you months and tens of thousands.
