5 Packaging Mistakes That Kill F&B Sales (and how to fix them)

Most food & beverage brands lose customers before they ever taste the product. Here's what I see killing sales on shelves every day:

1. Too much text on the front label

Your packaging isn't a Wikipedia article. Lead with one bold visual and your brand name. Nutritional info goes on the back.

2. Colors that don't match the flavor

Green for mango? Red for mint? Your customer's brain makes flavor assumptions based on color in 0.3 seconds. Don't confuse them.

3. Generic stock photography

Custom illustration or photography will always outperform stock. It signals quality and makes your brand memorable.

4. Ignoring shelf context

Your packaging doesn't exist in isolation — it sits next to 30 competitors. Design with contrast in mind, not just aesthetics.

5. Cheap materials undermining premium pricing

If you charge $12 for cold-pressed juice, flimsy labels and basic printing will make people question the quality inside.

I design packaging for F&B brands that actually moves product. If your packaging needs work, I can help.
