š Your laptop is painfully slow. Here's what you should NOT do.
Your laptop takes 5 minutes to boot. Programs freeze constantly. You're ready to throw it out the window. Before you do anything drastic:
ā Don't download "speed booster" or "PC cleaner" software. Most of these are bloatware or malware in disguise. They add more startup programs and make things worse.
ā Don't delete random files from System32 or Windows folders. You'll corrupt your OS and create way bigger problems than slow performance.
ā Don't immediately buy a new laptop. A slow laptop is usually fixable with a $30-50 SSD upgrade or a RAM increase. Don't spend $800 when you need a $40 fix.
ā Don't run 15 antivirus scans with different programs. Multiple antivirus tools running simultaneously conflict with each other and tank performance.
ā Don't turn off Windows updates to "save resources." Updates patch security vulnerabilities. A compromised system runs even slower.
ā What to do: Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) ā Startup tab. Disable everything you don't need at boot. Check if your disk is at 100% usage ā if so, your hard drive is likely failing or you need an SSD upgrade. 8GB RAM minimum for modern use.
Most "slow" laptops aren't broken ā they're just poorly maintained.
