3 Blood Sugar Mistakes I See Every Week (and What to Do Instead)

After years of working with people managing diabetes, these are the three patterns I see derailing blood sugar control over and over:

1. Eating carbs alone. A banana by itself will spike you differently than a banana with peanut butter. Pairing carbs with protein or fat slows absorption and flattens the curve. Every single time.

2. Skipping meals to "make up" for a high reading. This creates a rollercoaster — low blood sugar leads to overeating later, which leads to another spike. Consistency beats restriction.

3. Ignoring post-meal walks. Even 10-15 minutes of walking after eating can reduce your post-meal spike by 20-30%. It's the most underrated tool in diabetes management, and it's free.

These aren't complicated fixes. They're small habit shifts that compound into real results over weeks and months.

If any of this resonates, I do personalized diabetes reviews where we look at your specific situation and build a practical plan together. No generic advice — just what works for you.
