The one MLB betting mistake casual fans make every single day

Most casual bettors open the app, look at the moneyline, pick their favorite team, and tap bet.

That's not a strategy. That's gambling.

Here's the thing about MLB — it's a 162-game season played almost every day. The edges are small, but they're consistent. The books know that casual fans bet with their hearts, so they shade the lines accordingly.

What actually works:

1. Fade the public on popular teams. When 75%+ of bets are on the Yankees, Dodgers, or Red Sox, the line is already inflated. Sharps are on the other side.

2. Starting pitching is overrated — bullpen usage is underrated. A team with a great closer pitching on 3 days rest is a different team. Public bettors ignore this.

3. Bet the first five innings, not the full game. If you like a starting pitcher but hate the bullpen, the F5 bet exists. Use it.

4. Line movement tells you where sharp money is going. If the line opens at -130 and moves to -145 with less than 60% public action, sharps are loading up.

I built Diamond Picks to deliver exactly this kind of analysis — simple, actionable, and explained in plain English so any fan can follow along.
