The 10-second scam check anyone can do (steal this)
Here's a free trick we teach inside Scam Shield that takes 10 seconds and blocks most scam texts/emails before they cost you anything:
Before you click any link in a text or email claiming to be your bank, USPS/FedEx, Amazon, or the IRS — do this:
Don't click the link. Open a new browser tab yourself.
Type the company's real website address from memory (or a bookmark), not from the message.
Log in there directly. If there's really a problem, it'll show up on your account.
Why this works: Scammers can make a fake link look exactly like "usps.com" or "bankofamerica.com" — but they can't fake what happens when YOU type the real address yourself. This one habit blocks the vast majority of phishing attempts, because the scam depends entirely on you clicking their link, not the real one.
Bonus tip: Real companies almost never threaten to close your account "within 24 hours" over text message. That urgency is a manufactured pressure tactic — it's one of the biggest tells.
