One BOM read cold, as the buyer sourcing it and the assembler building from it both read it: every line checked for a part number and a source, every quantity checked against the assembly, every spec checked for whether it names one orderable part, and the list checked for obsolete parts and inconsistent units. Line 22 says "M3 screw". The assembly needs six and the BOM lists four, and nobody said which length. Priced per BOM, one payment, nothing recurring.
