If your draughtsman is still copying last week's door drawing, you don't have a CAD problem
Most metal and door shops I walk into in Gelderland already own SolidWorks. The bottleneck is not the license. It is that every order still starts as a blank sketch because nobody encoded the rules: hinge positions, panel sizes, hardware sets, the 14 variants that are always the same except one dimension.
That work is not engineering. It is retyping. Macros, configurators, and a makeable model kill it. A 90-minute discovery call is how I decide whether that is a €10k job or a €50k one — before anyone opens a new assembly.
If your team still redraws the same door, that is the tell.
