If your kid can't sleep unless the phone is in the bed, this is the loop — not a willpower problem

Parents keep asking for a "screen time limit" that a 12-year-old will respect. That's the wrong ask.

Short-form video is designed to spike dopamine far past anything school, sport, or conversation can match. After enough of that, a kid isn't being "lazy." Their brain is waiting for a hit that homework will never deliver. So they fight bedtime, snap at small requests, and look dead behind the eyes at dinner.

What actually works is a hard 72-hour reset, then written rules — not a negotiation every night.

  1. Remove the spike first. Not "one more episode." Off.

  2. Replace it with sleep, movement, and one analog activity you do with them.

  3. Re-open access only with a rule you can enforce without arguing.

If you're a parent of a kid 8–16 in that loop, that's the protocol I built Dopamine Reset Blueprint around. The course and parent community are live.

No shame. The product is the problem. The protocol is the exit.
