5 meals every broke college student should know (all under $3)

Most college students eat like garbage — not because they want to, but because nobody taught them how to cook with zero equipment and zero budget.

I've been there. Microwave, mini fridge, maybe a hot plate if your RA doesn't care. Here's what actually works:

1. Mug Eggs ($0.50)

Crack 2 eggs in a mug, add salt/pepper, microwave 90 seconds. Stir halfway. Add hot sauce. Protein-packed breakfast that takes less time than walking to the dining hall.

2. Black Bean Quesadilla ($1.20)

Canned black beans + shredded cheese + tortilla. Fold it, microwave 60 seconds. Add salsa if you're feeling fancy. Genuinely better than most campus food.

3. Peanut Butter Banana Oats ($0.80)

Instant oats + water + microwave 2 min. Stir in a spoonful of peanut butter and slice a banana on top. 400+ calories of actual fuel.

4. Tuna Rice Bowl ($1.50)

Microwave rice cup + canned tuna + soy sauce + sriracha. Mix it. That's a legit meal with 30g of protein.

5. Ramen Upgrade ($1.80)

Cook your ramen, but drain MOST of the water. Add a spoonful of peanut butter, soy sauce, and sriracha. Crack an egg in while it's hot and stir. You just made something a restaurant would charge $12 for.

The biggest lie about eating well in college is that it's expensive. It's not. You just need the right recipes.

I put together a free cookbook with 10 more dorm-friendly recipes — all under $3, all made with stuff from any grocery store. No kitchen required. Link's on my page if you want it.
