Why every 'pop culture' newsletter dies in 3 weeks (and what I'm doing differently)

Started digging into why so many anime/gaming Substacks and Discords die fast, and it's almost always the same mistake: they pick ONE lane (just anime, or just gaming) and run out of things to say by week 3.

The pop culture audience 16-29 doesn't actually live in one lane. The same person watching the new arc drop on Sunday is also arguing about a game patch on Monday and posting a meme about both by Tuesday. Segmenting content by 'vertical' is a content-team decision, not how people actually consume this stuff.

So I'm building Drop Culture as one daily digest that covers anime + gaming + meme culture together — treating it like one connected culture instead of three separate beats. Free daily list for the casual scroll, and a premium tier ($6.99/mo) for people who want early drop alerts and a members chat to actually talk about it with people who get it.

Curious if others building in this space have run into the same 'ran out of content' wall splitting things too narrow. What's worked for you?
