If you have a dog and a cat, you already know the pattern.

The dog bowl migrates under the table. The cat bowl ends up on the counter so the dog can't raid it. Someone knocks water everywhere. You buy a third "temporary" bowl. Now you have a feeding station that looks like a campsite.

Most pet gear is designed for one animal. That's the problem.

What actually works in a multi-pet kitchen

• One raised station, two bowls. Height difference matters: cats want a lower lip, dogs (especially medium ones) do better slightly elevated.

• Non-slip base. If it slides, the cat won't use it.

• Separate food, shared water is fine. Shared food is how you get a fat dog and a skinny cat.

• Put it on a washable mat. Hair + kibble + water is a daily event, not a maybe.
