Depends on which free zone. IFZA and Meydan are budget-friendly (~$2,500). DIFC and DMCC run $8,000-$15,000 but come with more prestige and banking access.

Housing (1BR apartment):

• Dubai Marina / JBR: $22,000 - $35,000/year

• Business Bay: $18,000 - $28,000/year

• JVC / JLT: $12,000 - $18,000/year

• Dubai Silicon Oasis: $8,000 - $13,000/year

Pro tip: Negotiate. Landlords offer 3-4 cheques now. Some even do monthly.

Banking:

Opening a business bank account takes 2-6 weeks. You need your trade license, passport, visa, proof of address, and often a minimum deposit of $5,000-$15,000.

The stuff nobody tells you:

• DEWA deposit (utilities): ~$550

• Ejari registration: ~$50

• Emirates ID: ~$100

• First month in a hotel/Airbnb while apartment hunting: ~$2,500

• Furniture if unfurnished: $3,000-8,000

Realistic Year 1 budget for a solo entrepreneur: $35,000 - $65,000 depending on lifestyle and free zone.
