5 things killing your e-commerce conversion rate (and how to fix them)
Most e-commerce sites leave money on the table. After building dozens of stores, here are the 5 mistakes I see constantly:
1. Slow load times.
Every extra second costs you ~7% in conversions. Compress your images, lazy load below-the-fold content, and ditch heavy scripts you're not using.
2. Checkout friction.
If your checkout has more than 2 steps, you're losing people. Guest checkout should be default. Auto-fill everything you can.
3. No social proof above the fold.
Reviews, testimonials, trust badges — they need to be visible before anyone scrolls. People buy from people they trust.
4. Weak product photography.
You don't need a studio. But you do need consistent lighting, multiple angles, and at least one lifestyle shot showing the product in use.
5. Mobile is an afterthought.
Over 60% of e-commerce traffic is mobile. If your site doesn't feel native on a phone, you're invisible to most of your customers.
Fix these five things and you'll see a measurable lift in revenue — no redesign needed.
Building an e-commerce site from scratch or need a full overhaul? That's exactly what I do at WebCraft Studio.
