The 3 biggest mistakes new dropshippers make (and how to avoid them)
I've helped dozens of people start their first e-commerce stores. The ones who fail almost always make the same 3 mistakes:
1. Picking products based on what THEY like, not what SELLS.
Your personal taste doesn't matter. Data does. Before you list a single product, you need to validate demand. Check search volume, competitor sales, and trend direction. If you can't find proof people are already buying it, move on.
2. Spending money on ads before their store converts.
I see people burn $500+ on Facebook ads with a store that looks like it was built in 10 minutes. Fix your product photos. Write real descriptions. Add reviews. Get your checkout flow tight. THEN run ads.
3. Giving up after the first failed product.
Your first product probably won't be a winner. That's normal. The game is about testing fast, cutting losers, and doubling down on what works. Most successful stores tested 10-20 products before finding their hit.
The people who make it in e-commerce aren't smarter — they just don't quit after the first setback.
