3 things I wish someone told me before I started dancing
I've been teaching dance for years, and the #1 thing I hear from beginners is: "I have no rhythm."
Here's the truth — rhythm isn't something you're born with. It's a skill, like anything else. And most people give up before they even give themselves a real shot.
So here are 3 things I wish someone had told me when I was starting out:
1. You don't need to look good to get good.
Every great dancer was awkward at first. The difference? They kept showing up. Nobody films their first day. Just move.
2. Start with your feet, not your whole body.
Trying to do everything at once is overwhelming. Just learn to shift your weight. Left, right. That's it. The rest follows naturally.
3. Music is your teacher.
Put on a song you love and just walk to the beat. No choreo, no pressure. If you can walk on beat, you can dance.
I built Efficiency Dance for people who want to learn but don't know where to start. Beginner-friendly, no judgment, just clear steps.
If that sounds like you — come check it out. 💃
