The real reason 'just be confident' doesn't work
I coach introverted guys who freeze up around women, and the #1 mistake I see is trying to fix confidence directly. You can't. Confidence isn't a switch you flip — it's a byproduct of proof.
Here's what actually moves the needle, in order:
Volume before quality. Most guys try to perfect one interaction instead of racking up 20 mediocre ones. Reps build pattern recognition your brain can't get from overthinking alone.
Track your own data. After every interaction — text, date, approach — write down what you said and what happened. You'll start seeing patterns you'd never notice in the moment. This is the single highest-leverage habit I give clients.
Get outside feedback in real time. The gap between 'what I think I did' and 'what actually happened' is huge when you're anxious. A second set of eyes on your actual texts and situations closes that gap fast — way faster than journaling alone.
Stop rehearsing, start reviewing. Rehearsing what you'll say next time keeps you in your head. Reviewing what already happened keeps you grounded in reality. One builds anxiety, the other builds skill.
If you're an introverted guy who overthinks every interaction — this is fixable, and it's a skill like any other. Happy to answer questions below.
