I've drafted shop drawings for facade and metal panel contractors for years. The same rejection reasons come back over and over. Here are the top 3 and how to avoid them:

1. Missing thermal break details at slab edges

Architects care about this more than you think. If your curtain wall or ACM panel meets a slab edge and you don't show the thermal break condition, expect a "revise and resubmit." Always call out insulation type, thickness, and how the clip or bracket bridges the gap.

2. Inconsistent reference standards

Your detail says AAMA 501.4 but the spec calls out 501.1. Or you reference an old ASTM standard that got superseded. Reviewers catch this. Match the project spec exactly — don't default to your company's template references.

3. Panel joint widths that don't match the elevation math

You show 3/4" joints on your details but when someone checks the elevation, the panels and joints don't add up to the opening dimension. This is the fastest way to lose credibility with a reviewer. Run the math. Show it on the drawing.

Fix these three things and your approval rate goes up significantly.
