Checkride Prep: Pick One Fleet, Then Run This 14-Day Guide

Welcome to Sim Check Pro.

If you are new here, pick one aircraft: Boeing 737 NG or Embraer ERJ145. Use the fleet you are actually checking on. Do not mix types in the same week. Mixing is how procedures get crossed and checkrides get failed.

Dual-fleet pilots: run this 14-day schedule all the way through on the first aircraft, then repeat it on the second. Do not split a day between 737 and ERJ.

Use this as a review schedule. Run it in the procedure trainer, then talk the same items out loud as if the examiner is sitting next to you.

B737 NG track

Days 1–3: Emergency memory items. Recite engine fire, engine failure, aborted takeoff, rapid depressurization, and stall recovery without looking. Then fly each one once in the trainer. At night, 10 minutes of closed-book recitation. If you hesitate, that item goes first tomorrow.

Days 4–7: Abnormal QRH flows. Pick three 737 abnormals per day (hydraulic, electrical, pressurization, anti-ice, flap or slat, fuel imbalance). Run the memory items, then the QRH flow in order. Say the title, the condition, the first action, and the next three steps before you touch anything.

Days 8–11: Systems oral review. Electrical, hydraulics, flight controls, pressurization, fuel, anti-ice. 15 minutes per system. Explain it like a first officer briefing a captain. End with “what fails, what is left, what I do.” Write three oral questions you still cannot answer cleanly. Those become day 12.

Days 12–14: Checkride dress rehearsal.

  • Day 12: oral only. 737 NG. No trainer.

  • Day 13: full 737 profile in the trainer, then a 20-minute oral on the same profile.

  • Day 14: light review of memory items only. Sleep. Do not cram new systems the night before.

ERJ145 track

Same 14 days, ERJ145 only. Do not open the 737 trainer until this cycle is done.

Days 1–3: Emergency memory items. Recite fire, engine failure, rejected takeoff, cabin altitude, and stall without looking. Then fly each one once in the trainer. Night recitation same as above.

Days 4–7: Abnormal QRH flows. Pick three ERJ145 abnormals per day. Same standard: title, condition, first action, next three steps.

Days 8–11: Systems oral review. Electrical, hydraulics, flight controls, pressurization, fuel, ice protection.

Days 12–14: Checkride dress rehearsal on ERJ145 only.

Post questions in this forum with the fleet in the title (B737 or ERJ145). We will keep answers fleet-specific so you do not cross-contaminate procedures.
