Why we stopped calling our ebikes 'commuter bikes'

Most ebike brands chase the commuter market because it's the biggest TAM. We didn't.

Here's the thing nobody says out loud: a bike tuned for bike lanes and stoplights is a bad trail bike. Soft suspension travel, road-biased motor tuning, and battery placement optimized for a flat ride all work against you the second the trail gets technical.

So we built eshack around three non-negotiables for trail riders:

  1. Motor tuning biased for torque at low cadence (climbing switchbacks, not cruising bike lanes)

  2. Suspension travel starting at 120mm minimum, because pavement bikes don't need it and trail bikes can't skip it

  3. Range measured on singletrack, not a flat-road EPA test — because that number is the one that actually matters 12 miles from the trailhead

We launched three models this week — Trailblazer X1, Ridge Runner, and Summit Pro — each built around a different rider: first-timer, everyday shredder, and the person doing 40-mile epics on the weekend.

If you've been riding an ebike that feels like it was designed for someone who's never seen a rock garden, that's exactly the gap we built this to close.
