5 Things Most People Get Wrong When Planning an Event

I've produced weddings, concerts, fashion shows, talk shows, and corporate events for years. Here are the mistakes I see over and over:

1. Booking the venue before knowing the vibe. The venue sets the tone for everything — lighting, flow, energy. Start with the experience you want your guests to feel, then find the space that delivers it.

2. Underestimating lighting. Good lighting is the difference between "nice event" and "unforgettable night." Budget for it. Always.

3. No backup plan for outdoor events. Rain happens. Power goes out. Have a Plan B that's almost as good as Plan A.

4. Hiring vendors separately without a coordinator. When your DJ, caterer, and photographer aren't on the same page, things fall apart. Someone needs to be the glue.

5. Forgetting the content. Your event happens once, but great photos and video clips live forever. Capture everything — it's how you build your brand for the next one.

If you're planning an event and want to avoid these mistakes, I offer consultations where we map out the entire production together.
