The burnout signs most AuDHD women miss until shutdown

Most high-masking AuDHD women do not crash because of one bad week. They crash because the warning signs look like "being fine."

Here is what I see over and over:

1. You get more capable right before you go down.

You answer faster. You people-please harder. You keep the house, the job, and everyone else's feelings in the air. From the outside it looks like a good stretch. Inside, your sensory load is already past capacity.

2. Rest stops working, so you stop trusting rest.

Sleep happens. The nap happens. You still wake up like you have a deadline in your chest. That is not laziness. That is a nervous system that never dropped out of performance mode.

3. Your world quietly shrinks.

Fewer texts. Fewer showers. Food gets simpler, then skipped. You call it "being tired." It is often the start of shutdown — not a character flaw.

If two of those are true, you do not need a new routine. You need a recovery plan that treats masking, sensory overload, and executive function as one system.

Catch it at the "still functioning" stage. Waiting until you cannot get out of bed is the expensive version.
