The paper register is not a system. It is a liability.
In a Ugandan school clinic, the “database” is often a hardcover book. When a student collapses, someone has to find the page, read the handwriting, and hope the emergency contact is still current. In a parish office, baptism and marriage records live in the same kind of book — until the secretary is away, the ink fades, or a family needs a certificate on Saturday morning.
We did not start Altrastate to sell another American hospital EHR or another church social app. We started because those tools assume always-on internet, a dedicated IT person, and a workflow that does not exist here.
Two products are live:
Pulse Care — school clinic ops. Students, medical history, appointments, medication, inventory, parent notices. Students stay free. The school pays.
Exodus — parish life. Mass times, notices, registers, certificates, diocese → parish → Small Christian Community. Parishioners stay free. The parish pays.
If you run a school clinic or a parish office, start with the thing you still do on paper every week. That is the first screen we should have gotten right.
