The 3 Mistakes That Delay 90% of UAE Healthcare License Applications

If you're a healthcare professional applying for a DHA, DOH, or MOHAP license in the UAE, the process should take 3-6 months. But most applicants stretch it to 8-12 months because of avoidable mistakes.

Here are the three I see most often after handling hundreds of applications:

1. Starting the authority application before DataFlow is complete

DataFlow Primary Source Verification takes 4-8 weeks minimum. Many applicants submit their DHA Sheryan or DOH TAMM application simultaneously, thinking it saves time. It doesn't — the authority won't process anything until PSV clears, and you've now locked yourself into a timeline you can't control.

Start DataFlow first. Always.

2. Practice gap documentation

If you have a gap of 3+ years between your last clinical role and your UAE application, you need documented proof of what you were doing. Many applicants don't realize this until the authority flags it, adding months of back-and-forth. If your gap exceeds 5 years, most authorities won't issue a license at all.

Prepare gap explanations upfront with supporting documents.

3. Wrong authority for your target emirate

DHA covers Dubai. DOH covers Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. MOHAP covers Sharjah, Ajman, RAK, UAQ, and Fujairah. Sounds simple, but I've seen applicants spend weeks on a DHA application only to realize their employer is in Abu Dhabi.

Confirm your practice location and employer's emirate before you start any paperwork.

These three things alone account for most of the delays we fix at Minqaar. If you're navigating this process, feel free to reach out — we handle everything from DataFlow to active license.
