5 reasons your rec team keeps losing (and how to fix it)
I've watched hundreds of indoor futsal games and the same mistakes kill teams every single time. Here's what separates the teams that win leagues from the ones that go 1-7:
1. You're playing outdoor soccer indoors.
Indoor is a completely different game. The walls are in play, the court is small, and you can't just boot it long and hope. If your strategy is "kick and run," you're cooked.
2. Nobody rotates.
In 5v5 futsal, everyone plays every position. Your "striker" needs to defend. Your "keeper" needs to pass. The teams that rotate like a unit dominate the ones that stand in zones.
3. You skip warmups.
I know, nobody wants to stretch. But pulled hamstrings in week 3 = forfeit in week 4. Show up 15 minutes early. Your body will thank you.
4. You don't practice set pieces.
Corners and free kicks in indoor are basically free goals if you run a simple play. Most teams just wing it. One rehearsed move and you're ahead.
5. Your fitness falls off mid-half.
Indoor is constant sprinting. If you're gassed by minute 10, you're giving up easy goals. Even two short jogs per week between games makes a massive difference.
We're running adult and kids leagues at Pitch House right now. If your team is ready to stop making these mistakes and actually compete, sign up for the season.
