Run the Speed Audit tonight. Here's the rest of First Mover.

Pick the idea sitting in your notes. Don't plan it. Audit it.

Rule #1 is free. It's the 48-Hour Ship Rule plus the Speed Audit. Fifteen minutes on a real idea. Run that first. Then decide if you want the rest.

Tonight: Speed Audit (Rule #1)

Open Sample, grab the checklist, and count every box that applies to the idea you're sitting on.

Over-scoping

  • Building for "all users" instead of one use case

  • Features that weren't in the original idea

  • Designing for future flexibility nobody asked for

  • A second product or tier sitting next to v1

Research loops

  • Reading a competitor before shipping your own

  • Researching market size or TAM

  • Paused building to "understand the problem better"

  • Waiting for more customer feedback before you have a shipped version

Waiting for perfect

  • Debating design instead of picking one

  • Rewritten the copy more than once

  • Waiting for a tool or feature before you start

  • Said "this isn't ready yet" more than three times this week

Perfection signals

  • A/B testing before launch

  • More time planning than building

  • A roadmap instead of a shipped version

  • Treating this like a long-term project instead of a 48-hour sprint

0–2 checks: you're on track. Keep moving.

3–4: cut one overscoped feature or research loop today.

5+: the 48-hour window is already gone. Ship what you have, even at 60%.

Sample (free, Rule #1 only):

What's inside the full course

Sample is Rule #1. First Mover is the rest of the loop you run before you commit hours.

Rule #2 — Kill the Lag (The Lag Test)

A 10-minute search that answers whether the idea is still open or already claimed. You look where builders actually launch, count live competitors, check recency. Tool: Lag Test Scorecard.

Rule #3 — Build on the Gap (Capability Scanning)

Where new gaps open: changelogs and API primitives, not demand tweets. Tool: Signal Source List, the weekly rotation of sources that still lead.

Rule #4 — Know Your Window (The Timing Read)

Three questions you re-run while you build, because an idea that was early Monday can be crowded by Friday. Tool: Window Tracker.

The four tools you reuse on every idea:

  1. Speed Audit (in Sample)

  2. Lag Test Scorecard

  3. Signal Source List

  4. Window Tracker

Loop: Speed → Kill the Lag → Build on the Gap → Know Your Window. Run it again on the next idea.

Do Rule #1 first. If the audit actually changes what you ship tonight, the rest of the system is here:

Ship tonight or keep planning?

Vote.

If you picked ship, run this free 15-minute Sample on the idea sitting in your notes:

i used to think speed and quality traded off against each other.

They didn't. Waiting to be "ready" is what made me late. Quality is what the market teaches you after you ship, not something you plan your way into.

I just packaged the exact system I use to find and validate AI product ideas before they're saturated — 4 rules, run before you build anything:

  1. Ship in 48 hours, not 6 weeks

  2. Kill ideas that already exist (10-min test)

  3. Build on what just became possible, not what's already crowded

  4. Know if your window's still open or already closing

Takes under an hour to go through. Built for builders who'd rather ship messy and early than perfect and late.

btw this is what I used to ship my SaaS, Prepwise:
