The 3 mistakes every beginner makes in the gym (and how to actually fix them)

Most beginners spend their first 6 months in the gym spinning their wheels. Here's why:

Mistake 1: Program hopping

You don't need the perfect program. You need ANY structured program done consistently for 12+ weeks. Pick a basic push/pull/legs or upper/lower split and stick with it. Progressive overload > novelty.

Mistake 2: Ignoring nutrition

You can't out-train a bad diet. If you're trying to build muscle, you need a slight caloric surplus (~200-300 cal above maintenance) and at least 0.7g protein per lb of bodyweight. Track it for 2 weeks — most people are shocked at how little protein they actually eat.

Mistake 3: Ego lifting

Nobody cares how much you bench. Drop the weight 20%, slow down the eccentric (lowering phase), and actually feel the muscle working. You'll grow faster with less injury risk.

The basics aren't sexy, but they work. That's what we focus on at FitForge — no BS, just results.
