Why I built a $2 fitness community instead of a $99 one
Most fitness communities price themselves at $50-100/month and wonder why nobody sticks around past week two.
I went the other way with FitMarket. $2 to join, one time. Here's the thinking:
Low price kills the excuse. Nobody skips a workout because they're mad about losing $2. But a $99/month membership makes people resentful when they miss a week — so they cancel out of guilt instead of pushing through.
It filters for action, not wallets. Anyone can afford $2. The people who join are choosing consistency and community over an expensive program that does the work for them.
The real value isn't the price tag. It's the accountability chat, the daily check-ins, and having other people watching you show up. That doesn't need to cost $100/month to matter.
If you're building a community and think price = perceived value, test the opposite. Sometimes removing the price barrier is what actually gets people to commit.
