3 things I wish someone told me about postpartum fitness
When I started training after having my baby, everyone said "just walk" and "give it time." And sure, rest matters. But nobody told me the real stuff:
1. Your core isn't broken — it's just different now.
Diastasis recti sounds scary but it's incredibly common. The goal isn't to "close the gap" — it's to rebuild functional strength. Start with breathing exercises before crunches.
2. The right clothes actually matter.
Wearing your old pre-baby leggings that don't fit right will mess with your head. Gear that fits your body NOW — not the body you're chasing — changes how you show up.
3. You don't need a 60-minute gym session.
15 minutes of intentional movement beats an hour of forcing yourself through something you hate. Consistency > intensity, always.
I built J'annielle Fitness for women in this exact season. Apparel and gear designed for real bodies doing real work. Workout plans and meal guides coming soon.
