The 3 conversations every dad avoids (and why they're destroying your marriage)

Most men think their marriage is fine because nobody's yelling.

But silence isn't peace. It's distance. And distance compounds.

After coaching men through this, I've noticed the same 3 conversations that dads avoid — and they're almost always the root cause of feeling disconnected from their wife and invisible to their kids.

1. "I don't know what I'm doing."

Admitting you feel lost as a husband or father feels like weakness. It's not. It's the starting line. Every man I've seen transform started by saying this out loud to someone who wouldn't judge him for it.

2. "I need help."

Men are taught to need nothing. So instead of asking for respect, affection, or partnership, they withdraw. Resentment builds. She feels it. The kids feel it. Nobody says anything.

3. "Here's what I'm going to change."

Not a vague promise. A specific plan. "I'm going to stop checking my phone at dinner." "I'm going to lead a family devotion on Sundays." The conversations that matter aren't the emotional ones — they're the operational ones.

If any of this hit home, that's exactly what we work on inside Forge Fathers. Not theory. Practical frameworks for men who are done coasting and ready to lead.
