Why most CVs and pitch decks get ignored (and how to fix it in 20 minutes)
I've spent the last while designing app UI/UX, CVs, and pitch decks for founders and students — and the #1 mistake I see is the same every time: people treat design as decoration instead of communication.
A few things that instantly upgrade any CV, deck, or app mockup:
One idea per slide/section. If someone has to read twice to get the point, you've already lost them. Recruiters skim CVs in ~7 seconds. Investors skim decks in less than a slide each.
Hierarchy over decoration. Bold the ONE thing you want remembered — a number, a result, a title. Everything else should visually take a back seat.
Whitespace is a feature, not empty space. Cramming more in doesn't make you look more accomplished — it makes you look harder to read.
Consistency = credibility. Same fonts, same spacing, same color logic throughout. Inconsistent design silently signals "I didn't care enough to check."
I started Formify Design because I kept seeing good people — good ideas, good skills, good products — get overlooked because the presentation didn't match the substance. If you want ready-made templates to start from or a custom design done for you, it's all here on my page.
