Resume ATS checker: why good candidates get auto-rejected

Last month a friend applied to 32 roles and heard back from 1. We ran her CV through a resume ATS checker and found the problem in two minutes: the job post said "accounts payable," her resume said "AP." The applicant tracking system never matched her, so a human never saw it.

Here is the fix you can do tonight. Open the job post, pull 8-10 exact resume keywords, and mirror that wording. Ditch tables and columns for a simple format, and quantify one result ("cut month-end to 3 days"). She reapplied to 12 roles and got 4 replies.

Want the tool that scores your ATS resume against any job post? It's a one-time download, works offline.

What's your reply rate right now, out of your last 10 applications?

A bookkeeping spreadsheet routine that makes month-end take 10 minutes

Most people who dread small business bookkeeping aren't bad with money. They just let three months pile up, then lose a weekend sorting receipts before tax time.

Try this instead: once a week, open your bookkeeping spreadsheet and categorize the last 7 days of transactions. Keep one rule sacred — business and personal never mix. Reconcile once a month against your bank. That's it. Month-end stops being a wall and starts being a 10-minute check.

If you're doing bookkeeping for beginners, that weekly 15 minutes is the whole game. šŸ“Š

Small business cash flow: 4 truths every freelancer should know

Profit on paper and cash in the bank are two different things. You can be "profitable" and still miss rent if the money hasn't landed yet. šŸ’ø

4 truths every freelancer should know:
• Profit vs cash: an unpaid invoice is not money you can spend.
• Invoice on delivery, not "end of month." Same work, cash weeks sooner.
• Track receivables weekly so no invoice quietly goes unpaid.
• Keep a runway buffer of 2-3 months so one late client doesn't sink you.

Good cash flow management is a habit, not a spreadsheet you open once.

Which one do you skip most?

How to set your freelance day rate (a simple formula that covers your real costs)

I used to pull my day rate out of thin air. Old salary divided by 260 days, felt fair, done. It cost me thousands, because that number ignored non-billable time, holidays and tax. I was quoting for maybe 3 billable days a week but charging like I had 5.

The quick fix: work out the money you actually need in a year, add tax and profit on top, then divide by real billable days (aim for 3 to 4 a week, not 5). That's your true day rate. Halve it loosely for an honest freelance hourly rate.

Run your own number tonight and see how far off you were. šŸ‘€

What pricing mistake would you warn a new freelancer about?

How to use a profit margin calculator to price a product right

Most makers undercharge because they guess. They set a price on gut feel and forget the boring stuff: overhead, taxes, and their own hourly rate. So the "profit" quietly disappears.

One move you can do today: work backwards. Start from the take-home you actually want this month, add your real costs, then find your break-even before you set a single price. That number tells you the floor. Everything above it is your margin.

So which are you right now: A) pricing on gut feel, or B) pricing from real numbers? Reply A or B and tell me why. šŸ‘‡

This business template bundle beats paying monthly for a budgeting app

Stop renting your own money habits for $9 a month. A monthly budget tracker, a debt payoff planner, and a savings goal sheet do the same work without a login or a recurring bill. You open it, you own it, it works offline. šŸ“Š

This business template bundle packs 7 small business tools worth $78 into one spreadsheet bundle for $31, so you save 60%. Buy once, instant download, no subscription. It's the Personal Finance Trackers bundle in the store, code ALLACCESS30.

So tell me: are you still paying monthly for a finance app, or have you switched to buy-once tools?

Small business templates: how do you keep them all straight?

Real talk. If you sell or run anything, how many separate tools and templates are you paying for right now, and how many do you actually open in a normal week? I keep hearing the same thing: five subscriptions, three of them forgotten, and still copy-pasting last year's spreadsheet every month.

That's the whole reason we built the All-Access pass in Growtoria: one business spreadsheet bundle plus every calculator and template, buy once, works offline, no subscription renewing behind your back.

So I'm curious šŸ‘‡ which single template or calculator would actually save you the most time this month if it just showed up on your device tonight?

drop it below, pinned link has the store (code ALLACCESS30 if you go for it)

Small business systems: one tiny system that frees your brain

Most solo operators lose their sharpest hours to decisions they already made last week. What to send a new client first. How to close out the month. The fix isn't more willpower, it's one small system that removes the recurring decision so your brain is free for the paid work.

Concrete example: a one-page client onboarding checklist. Same six steps every time, no re-thinking. That single workflow template can save you an hour a week and the "did I forget something" dread.

So, A or B: would you rather build a checklist system for onboarding, or a simple month-end tracker first? Reply A or B and why šŸ‘‡

Budget spreadsheet: give every dollar a job before payday disappears

Most money vanishes because it never got an assignment. Fix that in ten minutes with a simple budget spreadsheet and the 50/30/20 split: 50% needs, 30% wants, 20% savings or debt. šŸ’ø

One step for this month's paycheck: the second it lands, move your 20% out first, before you touch the rest. Paying yourself first is the whole trick behind how to budget without willpower. A monthly budget template just keeps it honest so paycheck budgeting takes minutes, not a spreadsheet headache you rebuild every time.

React šŸ‘ if you already give every dollar a job, šŸ‘€ if the 50/30/20 setup is new to you.

Invoice template fix that gets you paid faster

Most late payments aren't about the client being cheap. They're about a fuzzy due date. Swap "payment due in 30 days" for an actual date: "Due Sept 14." Add one line of scope and a clickable payment link right under the total. That's it. Clients pay what's easy to pay.

Our Growtoria invoice template already has the date field, scope line and payment link built in, so you fill three boxes and send. Buy once, works offline, no subscription.

Want the full 4-line invoice layout I use to get paid faster? Say the word and I'll drop it. šŸ™‚
