Good morning family, let's get this bread 🍞

Reminder I will not be going live today because I am still on the road.

Economic Calendar (ET) -- the marquee release of the week, out this morning.

  • 8:30am -- July Nonfarm Payrolls just printed a decline of 23,000 jobs, versus expectations for an +80,000 gain, a sharp miss following June's already-weak 57,000. Unemployment actually fell to 4.1% from 4.2%, likely reflecting a drop in labor force participation rather than real strength

VIX -- essentially flat near 15.14, a surprisingly muted reaction to a genuinely bad jobs number, gold is doing the fear-signaling instead, up 2.6% to $4,412.

Macro storyline -- a confusing print lands on a market that just absorbed its biggest technical test of the week. SpaceX's massive lockup expiration Thursday, 911.5 million shares becoming eligible to trade and more than doubling the public float, failed to trigger the selloff many feared. The stock actually climbed 3% on the day and is up another 1.4% premarket to $116.50, helped by a Q2 report that beat revenue estimates by 14.6% with AI segment revenue up 247% year over year and Starlink subscribers doubling to 12 million. That technical relief comes right as the labor market sends a genuinely weak signal, two straight months of sub-60K job growth is a real deceleration, not noise. The falling unemployment rate paired with shrinking payrolls is the kind of print that muddies the Fed picture rather than clarifying it. Meanwhile, Reuters reports the US, Iran, and Oman are working on an interim deal to manage Strait of Hormuz ship traffic, a genuine de-escalation signal if it holds.

Earnings movers -- SanDisk fell nearly 8% Thursday on mixed Q4 guidance despite the report itself. SpaceX is the story of the week, absorbing its largest technical overhang without breaking down, a bullish signal for how the stock handles the next unlock tranches on August 20 and in late September.

Market Outlook -- watch how the tape actually digests this jobs miss through the morning, since a muted VIX reaction doesn't mean the number is being ignored, it may just take a few hours to show up in price. A weak labor market cuts both ways here, it could revive rate-cut hope but also raises real growth concerns heading into a weekend. Respect your levels, expect the initial reaction to evolve, and don't assume the calm open means calm stays through the close.

Let's get this bread 🍞

Over the past nine weeks, I have been trading live on my channel, free and open to the public. The challenge was to start with $100 and trade it up to $1,000. Happy to say that, as of today, we hit the goal, started with $100, grew the account well past the goal, and actually did it without taking any else at all. It took a total of 11 trades. It took 9 weeks, and it is all documented through live streams on my channel as well as shortened recaps of what happened.

Decided to take on this challenge because I wanted to have something to point to, to show people the power of consistency and truly how much showing up consistently and stacking small wins on top of each other makes. Look here: over 1,200% return. This was a truly fun project.

The recent trading session was productive, and I anticipate the next one. I've encountered some challenges with executing trades on Robinhood, particularly when managing multiple accounts on the same platform. Specifically, I inadvertently closed a LEAP option in my challenge account while simultaneously trading puts in my main account. This occurred when a price drop caused a rapid fluctuation, leading me to mistakenly close the LEAP position. Furthermore, I've observed that attempts to place a put option from my challenge account frequently result in the order being placed in my investment account instead.
