Most freelancers are writing their resumes wrong. Here's why.
I've talked to hundreds of freelancers over the past year. Almost all of them make the same mistake:
They describe what they did. Not what they delivered.
"Managed social media accounts" is a job description.
"Grew Instagram from 4K to 40K followers in 6 months for a DTC brand" is a result.
The second version gets you the interview. The first gets you ignored.
The other big mistake: using the same resume for every application. A developer applying to a fintech startup should not send the same resume to a creative agency. The skills overlap — but the framing needs to shift completely.
Here's a prompt you can run in ChatGPT right now:
"I'm a [your role] with [X years] of experience. Here's my current resume: [paste it]. Here's the job description I'm applying for: [paste it]. Rewrite my resume so it directly mirrors the language and priorities in this job description, without fabricating experience."
That one prompt alone will change how you approach every application.
I built a full pack of 50+ prompts like this — for freelancers who want to land more work without spending hours rewriting from scratch.
