The 3 tasks every founder should delegate first (and why most wait too long)
After working with solo founders on their admin overload, I keep seeing the same pattern: people hold onto tasks that are cheap to delegate and expensive to keep doing themselves.
Here are the first three things to hand off — in order:
Inbox triage. Not your whole inbox — just triage. A VA can flag what's urgent, draft replies to routine questions, and unsubscribe you from the noise. Most founders lose 45-60 min/day here for zero strategic value.
Calendar & scheduling. Every 'let's find a time' back-and-forth is time you're not building. Handing this off alone gets most people back 3-5 hours a week.
Research & data entry. Competitor scans, lead list building, CRM updates — repetitive, low-risk, and easy to hand off with a simple checklist.
The mistake I see most: founders wait until they're completely underwater before delegating, instead of delegating early to stay ahead. By the time you 'have time to train someone,' you've already lost months of leverage.
If you're a solo founder buried in admin, start with just one of these three — pick the one costing you the most hours this week.
