5 things most homeowners forget about garden maintenance
Been doing property maintenance across Paisley and Renfrewshire for a while now, and I keep seeing the same mistakes. Figured I'd share what I've learned.
1. Gutters don't clean themselves
Most people never think about their gutters until water's running down the walls. A blocked gutter can cause damp, rot, and serious structural damage. We use a Sky Vac machine — no ladders, no mess, fully cleaned from the ground.
2. Pressure washing adds years to your driveway
That black algae buildup isn't just ugly — it's slippery and it degrades the surface over time. A proper pressure wash once or twice a year keeps things looking new and safe underfoot.
3. Hedges need cut at the right time
Too early and you stress the plant. Too late and it looks wild all summer. Timing matters, and most people just hack away whenever they get round to it.
4. Cheap fencing costs you more long-term
I've replaced more fences that were "only put up last year" than I can count. Proper materials + proper installation = you don't pay twice.
5. Trees near the house need watching
Overhanging branches can damage roofs, block gutters, and even crack foundations over time. Regular tree cutting keeps your property safe.
If any of this hits home, we offer free quotes on all of the above — plus bricklaying, grass cuts, and more. Based in Paisley, covering all of Renfrewshire.
