Red light is not a filter. Here is what 10 minutes actually does.

Most LED masks fail for one reason: people treat them like a face steamer. Warm, pretty, forgotten in a drawer.

Red and near-infrared light are not heat. They are a dose. Specific wavelengths hit the mitochondria in your skin cells and tell them to make more energy. More energy → more collagen over weeks, not overnight. That is the whole trick. Clinics charge $150+ a session for the same physics.

What actually matters:

  1. Wavelength, not LED count. 630–660nm (red) for surface. ~850nm (NIR) for deeper tissue. Rainbow masks with 7 colors are a TikTok costume.

  2. Dose beats duration. 10 focused minutes, 5x a week, beats a 40-minute Sunday binge.

  3. Bare skin. Makeup and SPF block the light. If you cannot feel the session on clean skin, you are wasting the device.

If you already own a mask: use it for 4 weeks before you judge it. Same time, same bathroom lighting, two photos. That is the only honest test.

If you do not: that is the protocol we built LumaSkin around. No spa booking. No 12-step routine. Light, then sleep.
