Rogers got rocked for six runs and seven hits over five innings, and even when Coby Mayo's three-run shot in the seventh trimmed the deficit to 6-4, the Cardinals answered right back to push it to 7-4. Riley O'Brien slammed the door with a clean ninth for his NL-leading 34th save, and we cashed the underdog ticket clean.

Hunter Gaddis bridged the gap with two key outs in the eighth, and Erik Sabrowski slammed the door in the ninth — striking out d'Arnaud and getting Peraza to pop up — to seal the sweep. Laying the juice on a team riding this kind of momentum was the right call, and the Guardians made it look easy.

We backed the dog in Houston and it backfired in a big way, as the Yankees broke a 3-3 tie wide open with a five-run seventh inning that turned a coin-flip game into a blowout. Cody Bellinger was the dagger, ripping a bases-loaded double off Bennett Sousa that caromed off the top of the center-field fence and plated two runs to give New York the lead for good. The rally was kept alive by a mental miscue — Sousa failing to cover first base in time on a routine grounder — and the Yankees piled on from there with RBI contributions from Spencer Jones and Jazz Chisholm Jr. to seal the 9-3 final. The Astros had the game tied heading into the seventh, but one sloppy inning from the bullpen was all it took to sink us.

The dog cashed in style as Ryan Gusto silenced Boston's bats, holding the Red Sox to just four hits over 5 2/3 innings to earn his first win since July 30. Javier Sanoja went 3-for-the-night with an RBI and Otto López added two hits and two stolen bases, giving Miami the offensive support they needed against Sonny Gray in his bid for win No. 17. Gray surrendered two runs on seven hits over five frames, and Boston compounded their struggles by committing four errors — the kind of self-inflicted damage that makes a plus-money dog look like a lock in hindsight. We got the +127 value on a Marlins squad that was motivated to avoid the sweep, and they delivered a clean 4-0 shutout against a Red Sox team that had won five straight.

Milwaukee lost starter Dustin May after a single pitch when a 106 mph line drive off A.J. Ewing's bat bruised his right scapula, yet the Brewers didn't miss a beat — Robert Gasser stepped in and tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball to earn the win. Brice Turang's three-run homer was the backbreaker, and New York's offense had no answer all night. When the opposing bullpen outpitches your entire lineup after a freak first-inning injury, the plus-money value means nothing — this one wasn't close.

Laying the juice on the Phillies chalk paid off in a big way as Philadelphia dominated from the jump, hanging a six-spot on Seattle before the Mariners could even blink. Schwarber broke out of an 0-for-7 slump in style, crushing his MLB-leading 40th homer — a 425-foot three-run shot off Bryan Woo in the second inning that blew the game open at 6-0. Luzardo then did the rest, spinning seven dominant innings with nine strikeouts to lock up the shutout and make this one a non-sweat by the middle frames. Clean win, clean cover — the Phillies came to play and we cashed at -122.

We backed the dog in Texas and got torched by a White Sox lineup that was simply locked in. Tristan Peters went nuclear with his fifth consecutive home run to match the franchise record and MLB rookie mark, while Brenton Doyle piled on with a three-run shot that blew the game open. Peters finished with three hits and three RBI, Doyle added a run-scoring single, and Sam Antonacci chipped in two more RBI singles as Chicago poured it on for a 10-4 final. The plus-money value looked reasonable in a rubber match, but the White Sox bats had other plans.

Fade the public, back the motivated dog — that's the formula, and tonight it cashed.

We took the dog in Miami and got burned by a Red Sox offense that wouldn't quit, even when the Marlins kept it close into extras. The game was tied heading to the 11th, but Jarren Duran ended it in brutal fashion — crushing a grand slam off a sweeper to blow the final score out to 7-3. Mickey Gasper's first career two-homer game gave Boston all the cushion they needed on top of that, and a Red Sox squad riding five straight wins and 14 of their last 20 was simply too hot to fade at home on the road. The plus-money price looked right on paper, but Miami had no answer when it mattered most.

We took the dog at +150 against the MLB-best Brewers and Francisco Lindor delivered in every phase of the game — homering to tie Dave Kingman for sixth on the Mets' all-time list, making a diving catch at shortstop with the bases loaded to preserve a 2-1 lead in the ninth, then scoring the walk-off winner on a throwing error in the 10th. The Mets' 13-6 run since the trade deadline was a real trend, and this group showed exactly why that hot stretch was no fluke. Getting plus-money on a team this locked in against the division leader was the angle, and Lindor cashed it in every way imaginable.

That solo shot was the first Miller had surrendered in 73 consecutive appearances — dating back over a year — making Cruz's blast the decisive and only run in a 1-0 Pirates win. Gregory Soto locked it down on the other end, and Pittsburgh's pitching held San Diego scoreless the entire night. The price was right fading the Padres at home, and Cruz came through in the most clutch spot possible.

We laid the juice on the Rangers and got torched before the game even had a chance to breathe — Chicago erupted for six runs in the first inning, with Tristan Peters delivering a two-run double off Jacob deGrom that set the tone immediately. deGrom never recovered from that disastrous opening frame, and the White Sox never looked back, piling up 14 hits on the night. Peters kept twisting the knife with a solo shot in the sixth, his fourth consecutive game going deep, as Chicago cruised to an 11-7 final. Texas had hammered these same White Sox 11-2 the night before, and we paid for chasing that momentum — the chalk got buried from the jump.

No offense, no path — the D-backs never gave us a chance.

Took the dog at +144 and got burned by a vintage Zebby Matthews performance — the right-hander was virtually untouchable through seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out seven to keep Oakland's offense completely neutralized when it mattered most. Byron Buxton was a one-man wrecking crew, scoring four times, and Kaelen Culpepper went 4-for-whatever in just his 14th career game, giving Minnesota's lineup no weak spots to exploit. Josh Bell's three RBIs put the game out of reach early, and by the time the A's managed to scratch across five late runs to make the final score look respectable at 9-6, the damage was already done. Matthews has now won all four of his August starts — we caught him at the wrong time, plain and simple.

The Rockies' offense was held hitless through four innings by Cade Cavalli, and when Colorado's Ryan Feltner imploded in the fifth — a Castro throwing error on a sacrifice bunt helping Washington plate five runs — the game was effectively over. Daylen Lile piled on with a homer and five RBI as the Nationals cruised to a 13-3 blowout, extending Colorado's losing streak to a season-worst seven games. Sometimes the +174 price is there for a reason, and this Rockies squad is in freefall right now.

We took the dog in Detroit and got burned by a pitcher locked in one of the hottest stretches in Rays franchise history — Rasmussen was simply untouchable, holding the Tigers to three hits over six innings to run his winning streak to seven straight starts. Aranda's home run gave Tampa Bay an early cushion they never relinquished, and the Tigers never had a chance to make it a game. Detroit's offense is in freefall, now losers of six straight and nine of ten, and Framber Valdez couldn't bail them out, surrendering four runs on his end. The plus-money price looked appealing on paper, but backing a team this cold against a pitcher this hot was a tough spot we couldn't overcome.

Nick Gonzales delivered the walk-off blow in the 12th inning, an RBI single that gave Pittsburgh the 3-2 win and cashed our dog ticket on a Pirates squad that had no business being this cheap against San Diego. The Pirates built their lead on Esmerlyn Valdez's homer and Rafael Flores Jr.'s RBI double in the sixth, only to see Jake Cronenworth tie it with a two-out single in the eighth — but Pittsburgh's bullpen held the fort long enough for Gonzales to be the hero. We backed the underdog coming off a Dodger Stadium sweep, and the price was absolutely right on a Padres team that had won eight of their last nine at home — fading the chalk-heavy narrative paid off tonight. Take the plus-money, let the game play out, collect the win.

Devers did the heavy lifting early, crushing a three-run homer in the second inning that put San Francisco in front and never looked back. The bullpen held the fort after starter Carson Whisenhunt exited in the third with elbow discomfort, with Jason Foley stepping up to earn the win and keep the Reds off the board entirely. Getting +144 on a team that was coming off a four-game skid and motivated to snap it made the price exactly right — final score 5-0, and we cash.
