The 5-Minute Rule That Changed How I Approach Everything

Most people overcomplicate discipline.

They think they need a 2-hour morning routine, a gym PR every week, and 16 hours of deep work to "make it." Then when they miss one day, they spiral and quit everything.

Here's what actually works — the 5-minute rule:

When you don't feel like doing something, commit to just 5 minutes.

Not 30. Not an hour. Five.

Open the textbook for 5 minutes. Do pushups for 5 minutes. Work on your project for 5 minutes. Sit in queue and actually focus on your gameplay for 5 minutes instead of autopiloting.

What happens 90% of the time? You keep going. Because starting is the hard part. Your brain resists the idea of effort way more than actual effort.

The other 10%? You did 5 minutes more than zero. That still compounds.

This is the same mentality that separates decent gamers from cracked ones. The best players don't just play — they practice with intention, even when they don't feel like it. They review VODs when they'd rather just queue up. They work on weak mechanics when it's boring.

Discipline isn't about motivation. It's about momentum.

Start building yours.
