Why most padel players are taping their rackets wrong

I've coached hundreds of padel players and the #1 mistake I see? Cheap electrical tape on a €300 racket.

Your frame takes a beating every session. Dragged shots, wall scrapes, accidental clashes. That thin strip of hardware store tape isn't protecting anything.

What actually matters in racket tape:

1. Thickness matters more than you think

Standard electrical tape is ~0.2mm. Quality racket tape sits around 0.5-0.8mm. That extra padding absorbs micro-impacts that cause hairline cracks over months.

2. Adhesive residue is killing your resale value

Cheap tape leaves gunk that's nearly impossible to remove cleanly. Good tape uses repositionable adhesive — protects without destroying.

3. Weight distribution changes your game

Tape adds weight to the frame edge. If you're strategic about placement, you can fine-tune your racket's balance. Most players accidentally make their racket head-heavy with uneven taping.

We built GripLab to solve this for coaches who go through dozens of rackets a year. Premium tape, bulk pricing, delivered monthly so you never run out mid-season.
