The 3 things that actually make you a better dancer (it's not what you think)
Most people think getting better at dance means learning more choreography. It doesn't.
After years of teaching, here's what actually moves the needle:
1. Body isolation drills — If you can't move your chest independently from your hips, you're fighting yourself. Spend 5 minutes daily on isolations and everything else gets easier.
2. Musicality over moves — A simple two-step on beat looks 10x better than a complex combo that's off rhythm. Train your ears before your feet. Listen to a song and just tap the beat. Then the snare. Then the hi-hat. Layer by layer.
3. Film yourself — You think you look one way. The camera shows the truth. Record yourself once a week, compare month over month, and watch the transformation.
No fancy studio required. No expensive gear. Just you, a mirror, and the willingness to look silly for a while.
This is exactly how I structure my courses at Rhythm & Flow — fundamentals first, flashy stuff later. If you want structured lessons that actually build your skills week by week, come check it out.
