Most backyard beds fail because the soil never gets opened
Garden centers sell plants. They rarely sell the thing that makes those plants take.
If you have ever put good compost on a bed and watched it sit there like cake frosting, that is compacted soil. Water runs off. Roots stall. You blame the seed packet.
You do not need a tractor. You need one shallow pass, then a second a little deeper, when the soil is damp not wet. That is the whole job. Do it once at the start of the season and most backyard plots jump a full month ahead.
I built Growrig for that job. Compact, ships to your door, meant for people who shop the garden center on a Saturday and still want a real harvest.
