The 3 settings that actually save Halloween yard prints
Most failed outdoor props aren't bad models. They're slicer defaults that work on miniatures and die on a 400 mm tombstone.
1. Walls beat infill.
Three walls, 12–15% gyroid. A gust of wind doesn't care about 30% cubic. Hollow-looking props still need a rigid shell.
2. Brim anything with a cape, spike, or skinny ankle.
8 mm brim, 0.15 mm gap. Peel after the print cools — not while it's still on a hot bed. That's how you snap a tombstone at the base.
3. PETG if it lives outside.
PLA will warp on a sunny porch by November. If you insist on PLA, primer + outdoor acrylic the same day you pull it off the plate. Don't wait a week.
If it still fails after that, it's usually first-layer adhesion, not the STL. Check Z-offset and bed temp before you blame the file.
I print haunted-house props for a living. These three cuts have saved more filament than any "magic" profile pack.
