Hero has middle set on a super connected board. Most players snap-call here without thinking. That's the leak.

Why This Isn't a Snap Call

Yes, you have a set. Yes, you're often ahead right now. But let's actually break down villain's shoving range on this board:

Hands that crush you:

• QJ (the nuts) — 16 combos

• J7s (the nuts) — 4 combos

Hands you're flipping against:

• JJ (overpair + open-ender) — 6 combos

• T9s (two pair) — 3 combos

• 97s (two pair) — 3 combos

Hands you're destroying:

• TT (top set, but you block one combo) — 1 combo

• 99 (middle set below yours) — 1 combo

• AT, KT (top pair overplayed) — villain dependent

• Bluffs with J or 7 — 67s, J8s, etc.

Against a tight villain who only raises flop with nutted hands and strong draws, you might only have 55-60% equity when called. You're risking $137 more to win $271, so you need ~50.5% to break even. It's a call — but it's way closer than most players think.

Against a loose villain? Easy call, you're printing.

Against a nit who only 4-bet shoves with QJ, JJ+, and maybe T9s? This is actually closer to a fold than you'd expect.
