A read of one handover note by the stranger who will have to run the job from it. The role read first, from your description and the job profile, so the note is checked against the job rather than the job inferred from the note. Every recurring task — found in the note or implied by the role — checked for a date or trigger, a method, a system and a recipient, and the habitual ones the note never mentions listed. Every system, account, inbox and drive the role touches checked for an access route that survives the leaver’s departure, and access routes that depend on the leaver’s own login named. Every relationship checked for what is owed, what was promised and what they expect next. Every open thread checked for where it stands, what is next and by when. The note read for every acronym, process and “as usual” a stranger could not act on. Any credential appearing in the note reported as present and not used. Returned as findings task by task, phrased as the questions to put to the leaver while they are still there. Three business days from the brief arriving, or by the leaver’s last day if sooner and the note arrives two business days before it. Not HR or management advice, nobody assessed, nothing accessed, and no note rewritten.
