The macro tracking mistake that keeps gym-goers stuck
Most people who track macros don't fail because of discipline — they fail because meal planning eats up more time than the actual gym session.
Here's the pattern I see constantly: someone starts tracking, gets excited for a week, then the Sunday meal prep grind burns them out by week 3. They fall back to guessing, and progress stalls.
The fix isn't more willpower — it's removing the decision fatigue. A few things that actually move the needle:
Fixed recipe rotation. Pick 5-6 meals you actually enjoy and rotate them. Novelty is overrated when the goal is consistency.
Macros calculated once, not per-meal. Build meals around round numbers (40g protein, 50g carbs) so you're not doing math every night.
Grocery list before the recipe, not after. Batch your shopping to one trip a week tied directly to what you're cooking.
I started building weekly macro-friendly meal plans for exactly this reason — mine and my clients' biggest blocker was never training, it was food logistics. If you're in that boat, worth fixing the system before blaming yourself.
