Tropical Reset — The Healthy Summer Cocktail You'll Make All Season

This one's been on repeat at my house since May. Four ingredients, five minutes, zero regret.

🍍 Tropical Reset

What you need:

  • 2 oz / 6 cl vodka

  • 3 oz / 9 cl fresh pineapple juice (not from concentrate — this matters)

  • 2 oz / 6 cl coconut water

  • Juice of half a lime

  • Ice

  • Fresh mint or a pineapple wedge for garnish

How to make it:

  1. Fill a shaker with ice

  2. Pour in the vodka, pineapple juice, coconut water, and lime juice

  3. Shake hard for 10-15 seconds — you want it cold and frothy

  4. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice

  5. Garnish with a mint sprig or pineapple wedge

Why this works:

The pineapple brings natural sweetness so you don't need any added sugar. Coconut water keeps it light and adds electrolytes (yes, really — this cocktail hydrates more than most). The lime cuts through everything and keeps it from being too sweet.

Swap ideas:

  • 🚫 No vodka? Use white rum for a more tropical vibe

  • 🌱 Want it virgin? Skip the vodka, add a splash of sparkling water

  • 🌶️ Want some heat? Muddle a thin slice of jalapeño before shaking

This is the kind of drink that looks impressive, tastes like vacation, and won't wreck your next morning. Try it this weekend and let me know how it goes.

The 3 ingredients killing your cocktails (and what to use instead)

Most cocktail recipes are loaded with stuff your body doesn't need. Here's what I stopped using — and what replaced it.

1. Simple syrup → Raw honey or agave

Same sweetness, way less sugar crash. Honey actually dissolves perfectly in room-temp spirits if you stir long enough. Pro tip: infuse your honey with lavender or ginger for an extra layer.

2. Store-bought sour mix → Fresh citrus

One lime + one lemon = better than any bottle. The difference in taste is night and day, and you skip the artificial colors and preservatives.

3. Artificial flavored liqueurs → Muddled fresh fruit & herbs

Muddle fresh berries, cucumber, or basil directly in the glass. You get real flavor, real color, and zero mystery ingredients.

That's it. Three swaps and your summer cocktails go from guilty pleasure to something you actually feel good about.
