Hood Smart Tip of the Day
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot.
Your cooling system is under pressure. If you open the cap while it is hot, boiling coolant can spray out and burn you badly.
If your car overheats:
Turn off the A/C.
Turn on the heater if you can safely do so.
Pull over somewhere safe.
Turn the engine off.
Wait for the engine to cool before touching the radiator cap.
Do not pour cold water directly into a hot radiator or open the cap while it is steaming.
Hood Smart: Let it cool to avoid getting burned.
