Designers don't lose jobs on taste. They lose them on turnaround.

A homeowner does not hire the designer with the best mood board. They hire the one who can show the room before the other studio has scheduled a kickoff call.

Most residential designers I know are sold out on taste and starved on production. Floor plans, 3D, finish schedules — that work is 20 hours a project and it is the part clients never see you sweat over. They only see whether you showed up with a presentation or with “I'll have something next week.”

The studios that scale are not drawing everything themselves. They keep the client relationship and the aesthetic call. They farm the production set — layout, renders, specs — to a quiet partner who never talks to the client.

If you are quoting a living room this week and the drawing set is what is blocking you from sending the proposal, that is the bottleneck. Not Instagram. Not your taste.
